Digital Catapult, in partnership with Ofcom, has announced the creation of a new Strategic Advisory Board and Industry Groups. The board and groups will support its cutting edge Open RAN testbed, SONIC (SmartRAN Open Network Interoperability Centre) Labs. Ontix has been invited to join the Wireless Infrastructure Industry Group at Digital Catapult as a founder member.
The group will focus on supporting Wireless Infrastructure, Neutral Host and Telecoms Services Providers for SONIC Labs and help realise UK Government ambitions. Ontix will be working alongside like-minded organisations including the Wireless Infrastructure Group, Verizon UK, and Circet UK.
SONIC Labs, funded by DCMS, is designed to promote new solution providers to enter the UK telecoms supply chain. The programme will drive the rollout of new wireless communication technologies such as Open RAN, enabling mobile networks to be built using a variety of different equipment suppliers.
